"What can I say? Righteous! The Honey Pot was bangin'. My crew agreed
it was as big a buzz for the experienced dancers as it was for the
newbies.

The Battle and the dancing afterwards, with the jams and the Big
Apple - it just had all the attitude that makes Lindy Hop the dance
that I wanted when I first saw it danced this way in the Boom Boom in
January last year."

BATTLE DETAILS

Sunday 18th June 2006, 7:30pm – 11:00pm

The 3rd Honey Pot Dance Battle 2006

The return of the ‘infamous’ lindy hop competition: where the only rules are that there are NO RULES – a reminder of how the dance was done back in the day! This competition is open to all…who can bring it and take it!

The first year had the Harlem Hot Shots competing as the Moose Maniacs who were told what the coo was by the East Side Crew. The dancing was taken to fever pitch – something London, nay the country has never seen before. The second year some devious tactics were used to undermine the opposition (the men did not know where to look!).

This year the Moose Maniacs are back to defend their name. Scores have to be settled and new blood wanna prove themselves…oh my days!!!

Your MC for the evening will be Marcel Andrew, local young Hackey-ite, an up-and-coming performer and musician.

Registration and other information
1. Teams must be a minimum of 4 people and a maximum of 8 people.
2. £10 registration per team member (£4 for the Pot and £6 administration)
3. Teams MUST register their names and team members by Wed 14th June 2006. Team registration should be sent in (with full payment for all members) to The Cotton Clubbers, 164 Wilmot Street, London E2 0BU.
4. £4 per team member will go into the “Honey Pot” and the winning team takes all.
5. Depending on the numbers of teams entered, the battle will be in tournament format. If the numbers of teams means this will take too long, then there will be knockouts until the final 4 teams
6. Each bout will be no more than 4 minutes long
7. Each bout will have two speeds of music, the final round will have three – all between 40(160bpm) and 62(248bpm).
8. There will be 3 judges; a dancer, a non-dancer and the audience

Tips:
*work with the music – this should go without saying…but you never know.
*don’t forget this is a lindy-hop competition
*don’t hog

“It’s about respect. It’s about getting pushed by the other team. It’s not about forcing them out. It’s about doing better” Mike Faltasek May 2004
